Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter fatally stabbed in New York

According to New York police on Sunday morning, Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter was stabbed to death on a Manhattan sidewalk.

At about 3 a.m, responding officers found E’Dena Hines, 33, lying in the street outside her home, with her ex-boyfriend standing over her lifeless body as he reportedly screamed incoherently.

According to the New York Post, Hines was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene then transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, officials said.

The grieving Freeman released a statement:

The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what
she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.

As of now, the motive for the stabbing remains unclear.
