This week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences pissed off moviegoers across the nation when they made it clear they had no intention of celebrating the numerous black actors and filmmakers who did some of their best work in 2015.
One of the Oscar snubs that shocked fans the most was the omission of Will Smith for his portrayal of Nigerian doctor Dr. Bennet Omalu in Concussion.
And it appears his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith doesn’t feel like biting her tongue or turning the other cheek about what she perceives to be a blatant bias.
In a Saturday morning vent, she tweeted, “At the Oscars…people of color are always welcomed to give out awards…even entertain.” But then she questioned, “But we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together?”
It is a valid question, with many of us arguing that a boycott of black viewership may be the only thing left to do at this point.

People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment.
