Twilight star Kristen Stewart appears to be the latest entertainer adding her voice to the mix of those debating about diversity in Hollywood, but her take is decidedly underwhelming.
“Instead of sitting around and complaining about that, do something,” she told Variety during a recent interview. “Go write something, go do something.”
“And that’s easy to say,” she continued. “Like, f–k, it’s hard to get movies made. It’s a huge luxury. Who gets to just make movies? But that subject is just so prevalently everywhere right now, and it’s boring.”
Stewart — who also says she understands why men make more money than women in films — made the brow-raising comments while in Sundance promoting her new film, “Certain Women,” directed by Kelly Reichardt and also starring Laura Dern and Michelle Williams.

In an interview with E! she appeared to take a less candid, more politically approach by saying she had no idea how to address diversity concerns and preferred to stick to independent films, where she is somewhat shielded from the politics of filmmaking.
