Joe Biden says he didn’t think Hillary Clinton was ‘great candidate’

Former Vice President Joe Biden admitted on Thursday during the SALT conference in Las Vegas that he hadn’t thought much of Hillary Clinton’s candidacy.

“I never thought she was a great candidate. I thought I was a great candidate,” Biden admitted.

Still, despite a campaign that was heavily criticized for focusing too much on casting Donald Trump as unfit and not enough on the qualities that would make Clinton fit for the office herself, Biden admitted, “Hillary would have been a good president.”

Biden also took subtle shots at the current occupants of the White House by talking about the Obama administration and talking up its achievements, which were obviously direct contrasts to current happenings, such as when Biden noted that during Barack Obama’s tenure as president, there were eight years “without a single scandal … not one.”

While acknowledging that Obama had not been a totally perfect president, Biden also praised the former president as “absolutely, totally competent” and as someone who took the presidency “extremely seriously.”

As for whether or not we could see a presidential run from Biden for the 2020 election, Biden said, “Could I? Yes. Would I? Probably not.”
