When Drake heard about a hotel maid in Florida who tirelessly commutes up to four hours every day in order to provide for her daughter, grandson, and other members of her family, he knew that he wanted to do something for her.
So, on Feb. 6, the Toronto rapper arranged for Odelie Paret and two other women to have the surprise of their life: a $10,000 shopping trip as well as a massage at the luxury Fontainebleau Hotel’s spa and a lobster dinner at a steakhouse.
Drake and Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who grew up in Miami, arranged the shopping trips for the women. Drake met them after the Saks Fifth Avenue in Brickell City Centre closed to tell them that they had 45 minutes to spend $10,000 on anything they wanted, according to the Daily Mail.
Paret, who immediately recognized who Drake was from having seen him on television, was shocked by the gesture before she quickly got to shopping. At first, she tried to find herself some clothes, but when nothing fit, she opted to buy herself some accessories instead.
She spent half of her budget on $800 shoes, a $2,000 Valentino handbag and four bottles of perfume. And then she got herself a big purchase: an 18-karat white gold necklace with diamonds set in it.
As for Drake, he took to Snapchat to post a video of himself with Paret.
“We took the ladies out for a nice little shopping spree tonight. We’re giving back,” he said in the video.

Drake is out here making a difference
Feb. 6 was a busy day for Drake, who had earlier bought $50,000 worth of groceries for shoppers at the Sabor Tropical Supermarket in Miami.
That same day, he went to the Lotus House Shelter, where he not only donated $50,000 but also gave $150 Target gift cards to homeless women and passed out toys and games to kids at the shelter.
And he took an entire basketball team out to dinner and gave them Nike LeBron James sneakers.
And that’s just a day in the life of a rapper ready and willing to give back to the community.
