Adam Venit, the WME agent who was accused of groping Terry Crews, won’t be charged with a crime.

“The matter was rejected because it was beyond the statute of limitations,” a City Attorney source told Deadline.

In October, Terry Crews released a blistering series of tweets claiming a high-powered agent “groped his privates” at an industry party he attended with his wife in February 2016.

Once Venit’s name was leaked as the culprit, Terry Crews told his story on Good Morning America.

“I’m looking at him and he’s basically staring at me and he’s sticking his tongue out. Just overtly sexual kind of tongue moves. It’s a party, it’s packed, the whole thing,” Terry Crews explained. “And I’m looking like, ‘Is this a joke? I don’t understand.’ It was actually so bizarre. And he keeps coming over to me. I stick my hand out and he literally takes his hand and puts it, squeezes my genitals. And I jump back like, ‘Hey, hey!’ … I go, ‘Dude, what are you doing?’”

The unwanted advances from the powerful agent reportedly didn’t stop there.

“And then he comes back again and he just won’t stop. And then I really got forceful, pushed him back, he bumps into all the other partygoers and he starts giggling and laughing,” Crews said. “I have never felt more emasculated, more objectified. I was horrified. I went over to Adam [Sandler] right then and there and said, ‘Man, come get your boy. What is his problem?’”

Although the agent was put on a leave of absence from the firm in November, he returned to work less than a month later.

By December, Crews dropped the agency, filed a police report, and sued Venit and WME for sexual assault and sexual battery. The lawsuit alleged that Venit had behaved inappropriately before and insisted that his bosses, Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell, knew about his assaults.

“It is now time to hold Venit accountable for his sexual predatory behavior and to hold WME accountable for its conduct in condoning, ratifying, and encouraging Venit’s sexual predatory behavior,” Terry Crews said in the complaint. “Indeed, a message needs to be sent to those in power who abuses those over whom they can exert influence and control that abuse and sexual predatory behavior will not be tolerated.”

On Wednesday, Terry Crews agreed to participate in a seven-hour mental exam requested by Venit’s attorneys.
