Kelis is known for bringing the boys to the yard, but now she has them coming to her farm as well.
The “Bossy” singer and passionate chef reportedly announced in a podcast that she has bought a farm in order to take her passion for food and culinary brand to the next level.
“In this past year I’ve kinda felt like I need a restaurant,” said Kelis on The Founder Hour podcast. “I need a space where I can actually be creative and I can do this on a daily basis.”
The singer expressed how important cooking has become to her and how she discovered a way to set herself apart from other chefs.
“I decided yeah, well how do I do that in staying with who I am and in the realm of control that I like to have? So, I felt like, you know what, let’s do a farm,” Kelis added. “We started looking for a farm. We found a property and we’re going to start to grow everything.”
Kelis told the podcast that she will be growing her own produce, as well as making her own milk, cheese, and butter, according to Page Six.
Pursuing the Dream
Kelis is a trained chef who graduated from the prestigious Cordon Bleu in 2018. She recently released her book My Life on a Plate, a cookbook that showcases her love of food.
In an interview with Page Six, the 36-year old confessed that she would love to appear on the Food Network’s hit show, Iron Chef.
“I would love to do the show but … I cook at my leisure right now and I remember when I graduated from culinary school and when I was working on a line at a restaurant I was so fast because I was seasoned to be that way,” Kelis said, reminiscing about her time working in a commercial kitchen in 2008. “I’m not as fast as I was back then. I would need to get back into that frame of mind.”
Additionally, Kelis recently made headlines when news about her custody battle with ex-husband Nas came to light. The rapper is reportedly fighting for more visitation time with their son, Knight Jones, on a more official schedule. Kelis also has a second child, her 3-year old son, Sheperd Mora with her real estate husband.
