Toys R’ Us is Closing All of Its Stores

Toy retailer Toys R’ Us is shuttering all 735 of its stores. The closure means about 31,000 will lose their jobs. Founded in 1948, Toys R’ Us had been struggling in recent years as it tried to compete with big box retailers like Walmart and online distributors like Amazon. Toys R’ Us had not turned a profit since 2012.

Snoop Dogg’s Cannabis Firm Raises $45 Million

Rapper Snoop Dogg has branched out into several different arenas over the years, but perhaps the most interesting addition to this always growing list is that he’s co-founder of Casa Verde Capital, an ancillary cannabis industry venture firm that was started in 2015 but just recently closed its debut fund with $45 million. The fund was created to invest in cannabis startups like the “Green House” company, which was co-founded by Ted Chung and Evan Eneman, two executives from the talent agency Stampede Management.

North Carolina 16-Year-Old was the only Student at his High School Participating in #NationalSchoolWalkOut Day

Justin Blackman, a 16-year-old student at Wilson Preparatory Academy in Wilson, NC, was the only person out of 700 students to participate in #NationalWalkOut Day. The teen stood outside by himself for 17 minutes to commemorate the 17 lives lost in the Parkland, FL high school shooting last month. He uploaded a brief video to Twitter noting that he walked out for those who could not.
