Girl, Bye! Cornerstore Caroline apologizes

Teresa Klein last week came under fire for falsely accusing a 9-year-old boy of sexually assaulting her at a Brooklyn bodega.

After surveillance video on Friday proved that a 9-year-old Black boy never “sexually assaulted” or “groped” a white woman inside the Sahara Deli in New York, the woman has apologized in a Brooklyn News 12 interview.

“I was wrong,” said the woman, identified as Teresa Klein but dubbed Cornerstore Caroline on social media. “The child accidentally brushed against me. Young man, I don’t know your name but I’m sorry.”

Too little, too late, said one neighbor outside the deli. “I just feel like that’s not a genuine apology and that sorry isn’t enough,” the woman said.

During the incident, Jason Littlejohn, a neighbor, started filming Klein as she said she was calling the cops. “The son grabbed my ass,” Klein said on the call. “I just was sexually assaulted by a child.”

“Are you seriously calling the police?” another white woman said, irately confronting the caller, who then begins to argue with her “one white girl to another,” The Grio wrote.

That video went viral. Littlejohn said as a father himself, it was tough to watch the incident unfold.

People at the scene disputed Klein’s version of events all along, but the boy was officially vindicated once surveillance video was released.

According to the surveillance footage posted on the Twitter page of Andrew Ramos, a self-described “multi-media journalist in New York City fighting evil,” it appears the boy’s book bag may have grazed the woman as he and his family passed her.

In the video, the woman claims to be a cop although it is unclear if this is true. Subsequent Twitter posts from Ramos show police arriving at Klein’s home after she allegedly called police on Ramos and another journalist.

Some are now calling for Klein to be arrested for lodging false allegations.

Police said they have no record of any 911 calls being made from the deli when Klein claims to have called. Klein claims she has gotten death threats since the incident.
