Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving is having a hard time being a basketball star, something that doesn’t make outspoken TNT analyst Charles Barkley feel sorry for him.
Barkley, who is known for often barking off criticism and insults during his basketball commentary, spoke with ESPN’s Get Up and addressed comments NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made about the mental health of NBA players saying that most are truly unhappy, according to The Bleacher Report.

“He’s a great guy but that’s the stupidest thing I’ve probably ever heard any commissioner say.”
“These guys are making 20, 30, 40 million dollars a year. They work six, seven months a year. We stay at the best hotels in the world. They a’int got no problems. That’s total bogus.”
Except for Irving, who Barkley said, “I don’t know him that well. He seems like a good kid. But I’ve never seen a person so miserable. To have so much success. To have the world in the palm of his hands.”

“He’s gonna make 40, 50 million dollars a year for the next 10, 15 years. He’s already won a world championship. He’s in the movies. But he’s got to be one of the most miserable people I’ve ever seen.”
Barkley said Irving is likely unhappy for leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to go to Boston.
“When you a star—and I’ve been a star—you get all the credit, but you get all the blame,” Barkley added.
However, if Irving is unhappy it might have much to do with his comments about wanted to just play ball and not have to endure being a celebrity.
“I didn’t really come into this game to be cameras in my face, be famous, be a celebrity, whatever embodies that,” Irving said Monday, according to Tom Westerholm of MassLive.com. “It’s a little hard for me. I wanted those things when I was younger, but now…I just want to play basketball at a very high level.”
