R. Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg, is calling BS on claims that the singer physically, mentally and emotionally abused one of his live-in girlfriends, culminating in a pregnancy he made her abort inside of his home.

In a statement to Variety, Greenberg said the social media posts put out by Joycelyn Savage, who was previously fiercely protective of the singer, are false and only put out to get money.

“It is unfortunate that Jocelyn now seeks to make money by exploiting her long time, loving relationship with Robert,” Greenberg wrote in the statement, according to Variety. “Obviously if she were to tell the truth, no one would pay, so she has, unfortunately, chosen to regurgitate the stories and lies told by others for her own personal profit. We know the real facts, and it was not until the money ran out that she decided anything was wrong. Hopefully, people will see it for the obvious profiteering it is.”

Meanwhile, Gerald Griggs, the lawyer for Jocelyn’s parents, told The New York Times that her family is “concerned about the allegations” made on Jocelyn’s social media account, and that “numerous facts detailed by the account confirm the abuse and coercion that the family has alleged for two and a half years.” Griggs added Jocelyn’s family is attempting to reach her and is ready “to welcome her back with love and open arms.”

After a two-year hiatus, Jocelyn took to Instagram to tell her followers that she has a something to get off her chest “something I’ve (sic) should’ve talked about a long time ago,” and that she would be releasing chapters of her life story on Patreon, a social media site where users pay monthly subscription fees to read content. Savage’s Patreon page offers access for as low as $3 a month with options that increase to $25 per month for VIP access, according to theGrio.

Of the content that has leaked out thus far, Jocelyn reportedly told fans that she was pregnant by Kelly, whom she calls “this monster” and added “eventually, I ended up getting an abortion. I was forced to get the surgery done at his house.”

Kelly is in jail in Chicago on numerous sex abuse and child pornography charges. He also faces charges in New York for operating a criminal enterprise and recruiting women and girls to engage in criminal activity.

Prior to this weekend’s announcement, Savage was one of Kelly’s most loyal defenders. Last July, she and Azriel Clary, Kelly’s other live-in girlfriend, released a video declaring Kelly’s innocence and refuting rumors that they were evicted from his home.
