A fictional musical about Michael Jackson’s infamous glove will feature puppets and debut in Los Angeles in 2020.

For the Love of a Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, as Told by His Glove, written by Julien Nitzberg, a playwright and filmmaker in LA, is about aliens shaped like Jackson’s blinged out gloves, who land in the singer’s hometown of Gary, Indiana. Once the gloved aliens arrive, it is learned that they have the power to give people musical abilities if they drink human blood and have “part of their body inside of it,” Nitzberg said, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The catch is the blood has to come from virgin boys, Nitzberg adds.

Once in Gary, one alien glove begins feeding off of a young Michael Jackson, and in turn, gifs him with singing and dancing talent. Eventually, however, Michael realizes that he can’t feed a handful of alien gloves all by himself. According to the musical, this starts a pattern of Michael bringing boys home.

Nitzberg told The Hollywood Reporter that the musical was created to examine Jackson’s life – from childhood to adulthood – along many different themes, including racism, religion, and rivalries. Jerry Minor, an actor and comedian who has been on Saturday Night Live and Mr. Show, will play the title role of the Glove, known as THRHIL-LHA. The glove narrates the play. Eric B. Anthony, who debuted on Broadway in The Lion King as a child, will play Jackson.

“I think there’s a collective trauma of everyone who grew up as a Jackson 5 fan and a Michael fan,” Nitzberg told The Hollywood Reporter. “This is a way to process that in a fun way while helping people understand all of the really f—-d up stuff that affected Michael’s life.”

The musical will open in LA on Jan. 25, 2020 at the Carl Sagan-Ann Druyan Theater, which is located inside the Center for Inquiry and will feature 20 original songs and puppets, according to the newspaper.
