More than two years after the release of her hit album, Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B is set to drop a new single. Last year, the hit-maker dropped a teaser single, “Press” before the coronavirus pandemic.
But, “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion marks the first single leading up to Cardi’s sophomore album.

In an Instagram post, Cardi B wrote, “Single droppin this Friday!”
The post was of the single cover featuring the women standing back-to-back, tongues out, with matching hairstyles and large hoop earrings.
The internet was appropriately thrilled that the two powerhouse female rappers are teaming up.
“I can’t wait,” one fan wrote.
Another posted a hilarious video of characters dancing accompanied by the caption, “Me and my girls with Cardi & Meg drop WAP.”
According to Rap Up, the single also comes at the same time that Cardi B relaunched her website, CardiB.com. The single is available to purchase on the site where users can join a queue to purchase a vinyl copy of the album. As of press time, there were more than 19,000 fans in the virtual line.
In another tweet, a user pointed out that Beyoncé’s choreographer, JaQuel Knight also posted about the single hinting that a video with choreography is also on the way.
Neither rapper has explicitly said what “WAP” stands for, however, Twitter users are speculating that it stands for “Wet A** Pu**y.”
The single also marks the first big release from Megan Thee Stallion after she revealed that she was shot in both feet, and required surgery to remove the bullets. The shooting happened after attending a party on July 15 with Canadian rapper, Tory Lanez.
