In a series of campaign ads, President Donald Trump aged photos of his political opponent, Joe Biden.
Huffpost reports that the president’s Facebook ads name the former vice president “Sleepy Joe” and edit the color and texture of his skin. Although a newly-updated ad is now running with a revamped photo, the original image is still circulating through the social media platform.

Facebook does not fact check political ads. The website’s official advertising policies states the following:
“Facebook prohibits ads that include claims debunked by third-party fact checkers or, in certain circumstances, claims debunked by organizations with particular expertise. Advertisers that repeatedly post information deemed to be false may have restrictions placed on their ability to advertise on Facebook.”
The social platform recently made the decision to not allow politicians to run new ads during election week, however, existing ads are still an option, Huffpost reports.
“This election is not going to be business as usual. We all have a responsibility to protect our democracy,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said according to the news outlet.
“That means helping people register and vote, clearing up confusion about how this election will work, and taking steps to reduce the chances of violence and unrest.”

The aforementioned ageist post is not the first Donald Trump has manipulated to depict Democratic party members as he views them. CNN reported last month that the Trump campaign photoshopped an image of Biden to display him bunkered down in a basement.
“Alone” and “hiding” flashed on the image, suggesting that the Democratic presidential nominee was hiding out. In reality, according to the news outlet, the original photo features Biden not alone in a basement, but at a campaign event in 2019 with the background features erased.
