‘Insecure’ star Kendrick Sampson took a knee at polo event ‘I will be supporting the movement of kneeling in solidarity’
Insecure star Kendrick Sampson wasn’t insecure at all when he took a stand at a high-profile Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event as the national anthem played.

Sampson, just as fed as the rest of us when it comes to how people of color have been treated by police, took a knee during the anthem and then later took to Instagram to explain his reasons behind the move and to recount his experience.
“I heard the national anthem at the #veuveclicquotpoloclassic #VCpoloclassic and took a knee (per the usual)… but something special happened: most people snickered or glanced, probably thought it was silly or controversial or insignificant or silently supported. Well, one white dude locked eyes with me. I thought, maybe he’s angry. Nope. He knelt with me. Swipe to see the video. After, I asked him why… he said something like “that’s what allies do.” or “I wouldn’t be an ally if I didn’t.” I forgot to get his name. Just thanked him. If you know him, tag him. Either way. We need more allies. Sampson also spoke to the Hollywood Reporter and voiced his concern over the recent confirmation of the new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
“There’s a lot of craziness happening right now,” he told THR. “A lot of people are pissed, including myself.”
And according to BET.com, Claws star Niecy Nash also called out racism on social media tied to the polo event.
In a few blistering tweets, Nash explained she was invited to the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Will Rogers Polo Club in Los Angeles and later claimed that her invitation was rescinded on the day of the event.
“My invite was rescinded bcuz I was the wrong caliber of guest,” Nash tweeted. “2x Emmy nominee. Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, #1 summer show Claws. NOT white. Let’s see who makes the cut… smh.”
The celebrated actress went on to add that she will no longer support the Veuve Clicquot brand following this slight.
“I wouldn’t come to your event if you paid me,” she continued. “Wait u wouldn’t. I’m not white.”
Her tweets have since been deleted.
