Michelle Obama stays fit to the tunes of Stevie Wonder and Beyoncé, among other artists. The first lady recently shared her workout playlist with Women’s Health magazine in honor of National Women’s Health Week. She even tweeted via her official Twitter account: “The First Lady shares her tips for staying fit and healthy, along with a few of favorite workout songs: #NWHW”.
The first lady’s workout playlist also includes Janelle Monáe, Sara Bareilles, Michael Jackson, Willow Smith, Chubb Rock, Ledisi and Jennifer Lopez.
In her article for Women’s Health, the first lady promotes her Let’s Move! anti-obesity initiative and touts her husband’s health care reform bill. She wrote that the new legislation makes “discrimination against women [by charging more for female preventative check-ups] illegal starting in 2014.”
Michelle Obama writes of the importance of taking control of your own health. “The truth is, being a healthy woman isn’t about getting on a scale or measuring your waistline. Instead, we need to start focusing on what matters- – on how we feel, and how we feel about ourselves.”
The first lady ends most of her morning workouts with cardio and weights and she adds yoga when she can. “No more excuses. I want to be as healthy at 75 as I am now,” she wrote.
