John Hawkins, a right wing writer for the conservative Townhall website who has been featured on the Romney campaign’s website, recently tweeted that a “white woman voting for Obama is like a black woman voting for the KKK.”
John McGuirk, a follower of Hawkins wrote back, “Dude, I like you, I’m on your side, but this is so far over the line I’m not sure you can still see it. Free advice: Delete.”
An unapologetic Hawkins tweeted in response: “Conservatives, including Mitt, have similar things said about them every day of the week. The only dif [sic] is Obama is actually a racist.”
In September, the Romney campaign highlighted a post by Hawkins in which he trumpeted the GOP presidential candidate’s alleged role in saving several peoples’ lives.
According to AMERICAblog, Hawkins “frequently writes of kneecapping President Obama.”
This story is going viral at the same time Barack Obama’s opponents on the right are circulating a 2007 speech the president gave at Hampton University, which they believe shows a radical racial bias.
The Romney campaign has yet to address or condemn the Hawkins tweet.
