Rock musician and outspoken pro-gun advocate Ted Nugent will be in attendance Tuesday for President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
Nugent, according to Politico, will be the guest of Texas GOP Rep. Steve Stockman for the address.
Stockman made headlines last month when he suggested impeaching the president over new gun control laws.
In a press release obtained by Politico, Stockman stated: “I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama. After the Address I’m sure Ted will have plenty to say.”
Nugent’s notorious anti-Obama positions have drawn the attention of media and even the federal government at times.
Nugent drew the Secret Service’s attention when he told an audience attending an April 2012 National Rifle Association convention that “if Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”
Last summer in an op-ed he authored for the Washington Times, Nugent questioned the Civil War outcome.
“I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War,” he wrote. Nugent went on to argue that the alleged growing federal power began when the North won.
Immediately following the president’s re-election last November, Nugent took to his Twitter account to share his displeasure, calling Obama a “subhuman varmint” in one tweet and stating “Pimps whores & welfare brats & their soulless supporters hav [sic] a president to destroy America,” in another.
Following his Discovery Channel show’s cancellation in December, Nugent called for a nationwide revolt against President Obama.
“He is an evil, dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom,” Nugent said about Obama in a video released on YouTube. “And we need to fix this as soon as possible.”
