Obamas reflect on Selma's importance, lesson for two daughters

To highlight the President’s event in Selma on Saturday, the First Lady shared an email on the commemoration which includes a link to the President’s speech.

She writes:

Today, Barack, the girls, and I traveled to Selma, Alabama. There, 50 years ago this month, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Congressman John Lewis, and so many other unsung heroes crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge — standing up for voting rights and full equality under the law for all Americans. It was an honor and a privilege to stand on that bridge and commemorate the heroes from a half century ago. But the legacy of Selma is not simply about our history — it’s about the march that continues today.

So I hope you’ll take a moment to hear what Barack had to say today in Selma.

Thank you, First Lady Michelle Obama
