Trenton Lewis, a 21-year-old single father, got up before dawn every day to walk 11 miles to his 4 a.m. shift at UPS in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Lewis didn’t have a car, but he knew that he couldn’t let that stand in the way of getting to his job. After all, he had a 14-month-old daughter, Karmen, to look after.
“My pride is strong,” he told CNN. “Whatever she needs, I’m the person who is supposed to provide it for her.”

Lewis made the trek for seven months before his coworkers found out that Lewis was walking to work each day.
Helping a friend in need
Patricia “Mama Pat” Bryant, who had been working for UPS for almost 40 years with her husband, knew something had to be done.
“She was like a second mom,” Lewis said. “She actually got upset with me when she found out I was walking to work.”
“For a young person to decide in their mind ‘if I don’t have a ride, if I can’t get a ride then I’ll walk,'” Patricia’s husband, Kenneth Bryant, said. “If a guy can do that, we can pitch in to help.”

So, the Bryants quietly let their coworkers in on what was going on and took up a collection.
“Everybody that I talked to said yes! The hardest part was reminding them to bring cash,” Kenneth Bryant said. “I told the seller what I was doing and who it was for and he said he was willing to work with me on a price.”
The surprise meeting
Once the group of coworkers at UPS were able to get the 2006 Saturn Ion, they even fixed up a small ding on the bumper. After all, they wanted everything to go perfectly for their colleague who was working so hard to support his daughter as a single father.
They told Lewis that they were coming together for a “union meeting,” but when Lewis arrived, Kenneth Bryant pulled out the keys to the car.

Needless to say, Lewis was stunned.
“God always has something for you,” said Lewis. “I’m never going to forget this ever.”
