Whoopi Goldberg asks the Betsy DeVos question we all need answers to

Whoopi Goldberg was not here for Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos’ messy 60 Minutes interview where the Secretary of Education slid into a downward spiral trying to answer basic questions about education policy.

According to Blavity, Goldberg aired out her dismay on The View as well as the co-hosts who said they were shocked by DeVos’ level of incompetence. When correspondent Leslie Stahl asked DeVos if she had visited low performing schools, she admitted: “I have not intentionally visited schools that are underperforming.”

That didn’t sit well with Goldberg: “So, call me crazy, but what’s she been doing this whole time?” Goldberg asked.

Good question, but DeVos won’t even be able to answer that!

A Bad Look

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in adding that she was saddened watching the Sunday night train wreck.

“What is so upsetting to me is that education was the great equalizer,” Hostin said.

“I’ve often said, I was the kid from the South Bronx, but I was smart and I was in the books. And my parents did everything they could to make sure I went to good schools. And it’s the only reason I’m sitting here today and not a statistic.”

It was evident throughout the interview that DeVos was not prepared. She bumbled basic questions and Stahl let her have it when DeVos tried and failed to produce receipts on how schools in her own hometown of Michigan were doing.

Stahl used DeVos’ own words against her saying:

“Your argument is that if you take funds away and that the (bad) schools will get better but that is not working in Michigan—where you have a huge impact…”

DeVos sat looking dumbfounded and admitted that she hadn’t ever visited the lowest performing schools and really didn’t have an answer as to why they were doing so underperforming and doing so poorly. Stahl then shot back, “Maybe you should (visit).”

DeVos agreed, “Maybe I should. Yes.”

“The idea that she did not research a lot of this stuff sitting down with Leslie Stahl?! I’d at least have cheat sheet,” Co-Host Sara Haines said.

DeVos needs to go back to class herself and learn a few things!

White House Surprised by DeVos’ Poor Performance

The White is pretending to be surprised at DeVos’ 60 minutes interview, sources told CNN.

When Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked if Trump watched the disastrous interview she said, “I’m not sure if he saw the whole thing or not.”

DeVos is set to lead a school safety act and the White House recently released its proposals for school safety measures following the Florida Parkland shooting.

DeVos stands in strong opposition to many of the students’ political beliefs, having previously said that she supported policy that would implement a program for school staff to be trained to carry firearms.

“Let’s be clear, I think to say ‘arming teachers’ is an over simplification. It isn’t a program that needs to be required or mandated for every community,” she briefly told reporters at the press conference following her Parkland visit.
