Watching Hoda Kotb’s awkward interview with Burt Reynolds talking about her “lip sludge” makes us cringe

Hoda Kotb is a total pro. Never ruffled and always pleasant, the newly minted anchor of The Today Show is truly one of the best in the business.

But legendary actor Burt Reynolds seemed to test Hoda Kotbe’s grace under fire during an awkward interview this morning.

Hoda’s dream job

Hoda Kotb had filled in for Matt Lauer after he was fired over a wave of allegations of sexual misconduct last year. She and Savannah Guthrie had been co-hosting the show until the network decided to make it permanent in January.

NBC News chairman Andy Lack announced the change in a memo that read, “Over the past several weeks, Hoda has seamlessly stepped into the co-anchor role alongside Savannah, and the two have quickly hit the ground running. They have an undeniable connection with each other and most importantly, with viewers, a hallmark of ‘Today.’”
