Many across social media are giving Omarosa Manigault Newman the virtual side-eye over her seemingly contradictory statements about Donald Trump’s use of the N-word.
She previously stated in an interview on Friday with NPR that she has heard Trump on an Apprentice tape using the racial slur. But in her hotly anticipated new memoir “Unhinged,” she never confirms she has personally heard the tape, USA Today reported.
“Hearing it changed everything for me,” she told NPR reporter Rachel Martin. According to a published report by the media organization, when asked to clear up the discrepancy, the former White House aide said Martin must not have read the book. But she had, and noted a section which describes Manigault Newman citing one of her “sources” about the tape.
In the book she writes:
“On this phone conversation, I was told exactly what Donald Trump said – yes, the N-word and others in a classic Trump-goes-nuclear rant – and when he’d said them.”
“During production he was miked, and there is definitely an audio track.”
But when pressed about her version in the book, Manigault Newman told to NPR: “I heard the tape.”
According to multiple reports, she cites three unnamed sources in “Unhinged” who claim to have heard Trump use the “N-word” repeatedly during the making of The Apprentice.
Manigault Newman served as the director of communications for the White House’s Office of Public Liaison and claims chief of staff John Kelly fired her because she was close to getting audio of Trump using the racial slur.

Like many who are invested in following this controversy, one Twitter user is curious about her motive behind releasing this book because “Omarosa knew about tapes of Trump using the N-word way back in The Apprentice, and yet she still went to work for him at the White House and still bragged to PBS Frontline that “every critic, every detractor will have to bow down to President Trump.”
Now, Manigault Newman insists that her former mentor and boss is a “racist.”
She also claims Trump’s campaign offered her a contract for $15,000k a month to keep quiet about her time in the administration, The Hill reported.
