Rihanna is pulling out all the stops for her annual Diamond Ball. The singer has announced that she enlisted the help of Insecure star, Issa Rae who will host the star-studded charity event and if that’s not exciting enough, Childish Gambino will perform.
“Issa Rae and Childish Gambino were the dream duo for the fourth Annual Diamond Ball and they’re coming!!! We are honored and grateful to have them help us celebrate the Clara Lionel Foundation this year,” Rihanna said in a statement.
Global Citizens’ CEO, Hugh Evans is set to receive the Diamond Ball Award for his humanitarian efforts that include the annual Global Citizens Festival.

The black-tie benefit will go down on September 13 at Cipriani in NYC and as always, all proceeds will go directly to the Clara Lionel Foundation. RiRi launched the organization in 2012 in honor of her grandparents. Their mission is to improve health, education, arts and culture around the world.
Dave Chappelle hosted last year’s festivities that raised more than $5 million and featured performances from Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris. Attendees included Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, and Leonardo DiCaprio among others.
Issa Rae is an especially interesting choice considering she recently revealed her fangirl #FAIL when she spotted Rihanna during a night out.
“I just saw her sitting at the table and I had had a few drinks,” she explains. “So I was like ‘Rihanna’s over there, let me go say hi, she knows me, we homegirls.’ And I went up to her and I was like, you know, tapped her. And she was so friendly and nice, I wasn’t expecting that, and she was like ‘Hey girl, good to see you!’ And I was like ‘Uh…oh…we’re, uh…’ and just excused myself and walked away. So any chance that we had to be best friends, I ruined it with my drunken nervousness, starstruck-ness,” she said during a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Guess Rihanna didn’t mind the mishap too much.
