Porsha Williams slams ‘RHOC’ star for mocking Black Lives Matter

Porsha Williams has been a vocal supporter of Black Lives Matter following the protests sparked by the death of George Floyd. But now the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fan fave is calling out “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Kelly Dodd for mocking the social justice movement.

Monday, Williams called out Dodd by posting a photo of Kelly wearing a “Drunk Wives Matter” hat at her bridal shower over the weekend. The event was attended by the RHOC cast and Dodd’s fiancé, Fox News correspondent Rick Leventhal.

In response to what she believed to be a clear dig at the movement, Williams captioned the photo, “Oh really Kelly Dodd, Drunk Wives Matter?” with a nauseated emoji.

“You are disgusting,” posted one angry fan. “Black ppl are murdered bc of their skin color & you turn it into a joke?? You don’t need anymore exposure on TV. You need to crawl back under the bridge with all your racists friends.”

According to US Weekly, Dodd also faced backlash for having such a large gathering during COVID-19, although she seemed oblivious to it at first, posting eight photos from the gathering on Sunday. She later posted a photo of her and her gal pals wearing masks indoors, writing, “People were asking where are the masks?? Well, here they are !!”

While many white reality stars have been outed as proud conservatives, Williams and fellow reality star Yandy Smith have been on the frontlines with BLM and in August were arrested while protesting the police killing of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky.

As theGrio previously reported, Smith came forward afterward to call out the inhumane conditions she says they were subjected to while in custody.

“We were sitting right next to each other with locked arms,” Smith told Page Six about what took place on Aug. 25 when she and Williams were approached by officers in riot gear. “And we were both so afraid, but so empowered and feeling courageous.”

The two women were joined by 60 other demonstrators as part of a peaceful Day of Action march organized by Tamika Mallory’s social justice group Until Freedom. The Love & Hip Hop star says although organizers made sure protestors remained non-violent and non-confrontational as they walked toward the bridge, she alleged that the officers still chose to “aggressively” push the peaceful crowd, which lead to growing tension and several arrests.

“The amount of humiliation is crazy,” she said of the facility where 40 women had to share one toilet. “The bathroom is just completely disgusting, like feces on the toilet. Feces on the floor. You would think there was a puddle of water, but it was urine.”
