This week, rapper 50 Cent faced backlash after he took to social media to endorse Donald Trump in response to Joe Biden unveiling his proposed tax plan for the rich. Now conservative pundit Candace Owens is speaking up and coming to the rapper’s defense.
As we previously reported, 50 – real name Curtis James Jackson III – shared a post on Instagram showing Biden’s tax rates by state for Americans earning more than $400,000 a year. In New York, the tax rate would be 58% while Biden would tax residents in New York City 62%.

“WHAT THE F*CK! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT, Man — F*CK NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya [f***ing] mind,” he wrote.
“50 Cent literally just declared himself a MAGA lunatic because he doesn’t want to pay more in taxes than impoverished Americans,” wrote one disappointed fan, echoing the sentiments of many. “How nice of him to show he’s part of the same redhat wearing money grifting group as Ice Cube and Kanye West. Makes me physically ill.”
But Owens, a vocal pro-Trump talking head, applauded the entertainer for going against the grain.

“I want to just say something to defend 50 Cent because I am just seeing so much ignorance in his comments from the majority of Black people saying they’re done with him and it’s because he’s rich and he’s betrayed them,” she said in an eight-minute video, explaining how rich people can move to states like Texas where there is no income tax. “No, it’s because he’s smart and you’re not, okay?”
Owens also urged viewers to read Thomas Sowell’s essay “Trickle Down Theory” and “Tax Cuts for the Rich” concluding, “If you think that you’re going to just tax rich people 90 percent and they’re going to stay in the state, you’re an idiot. Rich people are the ones who can afford to leave the state. What happens is the government then turns the poor people and raises their taxes.”
