The boys are back! The dynamic comedic duo of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele will reunite to voice over the animated stop-motion feature Wendell and Wild, according to Deadline.
The Netflix feature will star the best buddies who will provide voices for two deceitful demon brothers. It will be directed by Henry Selick, who also directed James and the Giant Peach, Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
While we are glad that Key and Peele are doing projects together again, Peele admits that behind the camera directing is what he really loves to do.
“Acting is just nowhere near as fun for me as directing,” he told CBS Sunday Morning.
He says when he was offered the role of poop in the Emoji movie, he knew it was time to take his talents elsewhere.
This is not his first foray into voicing over animations. He also was the voice of Duke Ellington’s ghost on the Netflix animated show Big Mouth.
Wendell and Wild is an original feature. The script will be written by Peele and Clay McLeod Chapman, who has worked on Spider-Man movies and The Avengers. Chapman plans to also release a Wendell and Wild book along with Selick.
The characters will be designed by Argentinian artist Pablo Lobato.
Peele Making History
Jordan Peele made history at the 90th Annual Academy Awards winning the award for Best Original Screenplay for his film Get Out. The critically acclaimed film was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, Best Leading Actor, and Best Picture.
Taking the stage, Peele had a lot to be thankful for being that he’s the first African-American to win that award. Peele thanked his mother and moviegoers.
“My mother, who taught me to love, even in the face of hate,” he said. “And to everyone who went and saw this movie, everybody who bought a ticket, who told somebody to buy a ticket, thank you. I love you for shouting out at the theater, for shouting out at the screen. Let’s keep going.”
Fans of the breakout movie were concerned with recent reports stating that older Oscar voters dismissed the Peele directed film and refused to even watch it. Fans have also been outraged at the film’s treatment.
At last year’s Golden Globe it was nominated in the comedy category and the movie has failed to win any accolades at other award shows like the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Although its no laughing matter, Jordan Peele said his movie’s message is as real as it gets.

“The reason for the visceral response to this movie being called a comedy is that we are still living in a time in which African American cries for justice aren’t being taken seriously,” Peele said. “It’s important to acknowledge that though there are funny moments, the systemic racism that the movie is about is very real.”
Get Out smashed box office expectations. It received a 99 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating and an 87 percent audience rating. It became the highest grossing film for an original screenplay. And, on a $4.6 million budget to make, Get Out made $34 million in its opening weekend and Peele went on to take the honor of becoming the first African American writer-director to earn $100 million in his debut film.
