This week an article appeared in the conservative magazine, the National Review, warning its readership of a new trend where liberals have started using the term, “white women” as a slur.

In the op-ed entitled, White Women Becomes a Disparaging Term,” writer Kyle Smith complains that after extremists from the left spent years tearing down white men, they have now moved on to attacking the prized jewel of white supremacist ideology; the purity of their women.

America has a long history of white men, attacking and at times even killing Black people, particularly Black men, all under the guise of protecting their women. Anyone who knows the story of Emmitt Till is familiar with this narrative. Then there’s the uptick this year alone of viral videos of white women calling the police on Black people for merely breathing the same air has now become a regular part of the weekly news cycle. Between #BarbecueBecky, #PoolPatrolPaula and now #CornerstoreCaroline, white women seem to call 911 operators, on Black kids especially, as regularly as their BFFs.

Yet, Smith somehow dismissed all these major details, to lament that liberals are unfairly attacking conservative women simply because their still bitter that Hillary Clinton didn’t become president.

“It was less than two years ago that the approximately 98.7 percent of white women working in media who were openly rooting for Hillary Clinton saw their hopes dashed on Election Day,” he writes. “The first murmurs of betrayal began. Exit polls showed 52 percent of white women backed Donald Trump, and much sorrowful tsk-tsking ensued. Sorrow turned to disbelief. Disbelief turned to rage.”

“Today, white women are being lumped together into a giant bloc subject to absurdly broad stereotyping and vitriolic condemnation. They’re being told to step back and know their place by writers,” he continues.

In the piece Smith cites New York Times, The New Yorker, and NBC News among the long list of liberal outlets that have unfairly attacked white womanhood in a quest to turn the Democratic party into a, “hierarchy of victimhood, with each person’s rank assessed based on the perceived aggregate suffering of the demographic groups to which they belong.”

Smith says this is why white men have already left the party en masse voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton by a margin of 63 to 31 percent.

After defending the likes of pop star Taylor Swift, and Senator Susan Collins; whose support for Brett Kavanaugh a week ago (even after hearing how he allegedly sexually assaulted Christine Blasey Ford), Smith then warns all of us that we better be nicer to the white women amongst us, and stop holding them accountable to their access to white privilege or else we run the risk of losing them to Trump nation as well.

Below, is a brilliant clip on white fragility, through the eyes of Robin DiAngelo; a social justice educator who self-identifies to Big Think Science as a “white anti-racist thinker.” She is very decidedly not part of the 52 percent who voted for Trump, and succinctly explains all the nuances that writers like Smith very blatantly choose to ignore in order to further their arguments.
