This Is Us fans are in for a treat this weekend because Sterling K. Brown is hosting Saturday Night Live, meaning they’re favorite tear-jerking character will be flexing his funny muscles for a change.
The award-winning actor will host this weekend’s show that features musical guest, James Bay.

He’s clearly excited about the gig and shared a promo on social media on Thursday morning that shows him getting his own name wrong as he remakes the show’s infamous opening credits sequence with action figures replacing the usual cast photos on an NYC model set. Leslie Jones‘ photo is replaced by a black Tinkerbell figurine while Michael Che is represented by Felix The Cat.
“My love for @nbcsnl is REAL and HEALTHY. See you Saturday!!!! #SKBSNL,” he posted.

This will be the first time Sterling K. Brown has hosted the weekly sketch comedy show that stars Leslie Jones and helped launch the career of our 2019 Oscars host pick, Maya Rudolph.

Brown’s booking comes after his recent winning streak at several major awards shows. His incredible performance on This Is Us earned him numerous trophies this year, including a Golden Globe win for Best Actor, the SAG Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. Best Actor at Critic’s Choice Awards, NAACP Image Awards and last year’s Emmys.
While his accolades have been for his dramatic performances, we’re thinking Sterling has some serious comedic chops he’s ready to debut because a man this talented seems like he would be good at just about anything he sets his mind to. We ca’t wait to see how he does in the show’s silly skits and we’re dying to find out if his funny bone is as strong as his knack for bringing the tears on his hit NBC show.
